Overview
January – February is wildebeest calving season and July is the usually when the wildebeest heard begin moving fast in search of water and greener grass, making their way across Grumeti and Mara river.
October is a good time to see the wildebeest herds moving back into the Serengeti and the warm weather can be expected.
DAY TO DAY ITINERARY
DAY 1
Arrive At Kilimanjaro International Airport
Arrive At Kilimanjaro International Airport and Ricktrackers & safaris representative will meet and drive you to Arusha for dinner and overnight
DAY 2
Tarangire National Park
Tarangire is famouse for it’s large herds of elephant numbering in hundreads also has the largest concentration elephant and buffalo in East Africa. Tarangire river draws animals, including migratory herds of wildebeest and zebra during the dry summer months, making for excellent game viewing.
Activities
Drive from Arusha to Tarangire National Park. On arrival, you will be transferred to the accommodation mentioned in your itinerary for lunch .Enjoy an evening game drive in the park and return back for dinner and overnight.
DAY 3
Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, you will have a guided morning safari in the park. Afterwards , continue with game drive and picnic lunch.The park is a bird watchers paradise, home to more than 500 species. All main predators are present, but because of thick vegetation ,not spotted as often as in some of the other parks in northern Tanzania .After evening game drive you will head back for dinner and overnight.
DAY 4
Lake Manyara National Park - Ngorongoro
Apart from a spectacular setting , the park is famous for it’s unusual tree-climbing lions and the vast elephant herds it was established to protect. The shores of the lake lined up with pink flamingoes and more than 300 bird species. Enjoy the dramatic view of the Great Rift valley and the forest valley slopes.
Activities
Depart for a morning game drive early in the morning and then return back for lunch at noontime. After lunch drive again to Ngorongoro Conservation Area for the evening Crater Rim walk and then head to the Ngorongoro new accommodation for dinner and overnight.
DAY 5
Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Ngorongoro is the 8th wonder of the world and the largest intact Caldera. The 2000 ft high wall and a 10 mile wide ancient Crater is a sheltered heaven for wildlife , harboring almost all of Africa’s iconic species such as the endangered Black rhino , big prides of lions , cheetah , hippo , elephant , jackals and many other. After a long day game drive with picnic lunch box , you will head back to the Camp/lodge and choose to either rest or pay a visit to one of the Local Maasai boma and practice their tradition dance or visit a nearby Maasai school bofore going back for dinner and overnight.
Activities
After your very early breakfast today , you will descend 2000 ft down to the Crater floor with a picnic lunch. Explore the forest areas that are inhabited by elephants and giraffes , and the open savannah harboring big prides of lions.
DAY 6
Serengeti National Park (Southern Region)
The name Serengeti comes from the Maasai word “Siringet” meaning endless plains. Serengeti has over 1000 sq miles of pristine wilderness play host to the great migration. It’s endless grass plains, woodland hills and rivers contains over three million large animals. All the big cats are easily seen and lions are everywhere and are often found on a kill.Cheeahs are very common on the southeastern plains , while leopard can often be found lazing in one of the big trees along the Seronera river.
Activities
Explore all the vast areas of the southern Serengeti plains such as Ndutu , Lake Maseck , Kusini plains and Gol kopjes.
DAY 7
Serengeti ( Central)
After early breakfast, we will be spotting hers of wildebeest and zebra stretching to the horizon.Great heards of buffalo , smaller groups of elephants and giraffe and thousands upon thousands of topi , eland ,impala , gazells are resident at anytime of the year and all the big three cats are easily seen from here.
Activities
Full day game drive today. Spotting a large number of big cats nearby Seronera river with a possible leopard ambushing an antelope from a tree. Driving through Moru kopjes searching for the last remaining Black rhino.
DAY 8
Serengeti ( Tracking Wildebeest Migration)
After breakfast, we will be tracking down the annual wildebeest migration with a possible big 5 game all together.The central Serengeti is the fantastic area to see the Great Migration in action. The herds move this section of the park from April to June as they travel northward , and then they coming back again heading South from October to December.Some of the best locations in the central Serengeti to see the herds include the Seronera valley and Seronera river , Moru kopjes , Simba copjes and Masai kopjes.
Activities
Spending a full day game drive tracking herds , witnessing lions , leopard and cheetah thrilling hunt and it’s stunning beautiful landscapes. Drive back for dinner and last overnight.
DAY 9
Arusha
After breakfast at the lodge/camp , you will have your last morning game drive in the park and begin your drive back to Arusha, stop at Olduvai Gorge en route to Arusha . Overnight at lodge/hotel
