With a full-time operation and full-time hard working staff , Rick trackers & safaris expertise in healthy and safety ensures that protocols are followed down to the smallest detail. In Tanzania , safety protocols are directed by our Health Ministry and controlled by Rick trackers & safaris operations directors.
Rick trackers management and entire team have undergone WHO – approved certificate training courses on Covid – 19 sanitation protocols .
In addition to making sure that you have a fantastic safari experience , your tour leader/ guide ensure that Rick trackers & safaris protocols are followed during your entire trip.
COVID TESTING AND SCREENING ON ARRIVAL
- Must complete an online Traveler’s Surveillance Form (https://afyamsafiri.moh.go.Tz). This form must be submitted to no more than 24 hours before arrival.
- Whether foreign national or returning residents , will be required to present a negative Covid – 19 PCR test certificate for a test taken no more than 72 hours prior to arrival in Tanzania .
- Will also be subjected to a rapid Covid – 19 test on arrival at their own expense. The cost of the rapid Covid – 19 test is $ 25 and must be paid in cash.
- Children 10 years old and below are exempted from Covid – 19 testing requirements .
- The Tanzanian government is also implementing temperature scanning to all international passengers arriving into Tanzania .
- Travelers will be provided with health information cards with toll-free numbers and advised to self-monitor themselves for symptoms and signs.
- There is no isolation period required for people without symptoms upon arrival. In the case that traveler developed Covid – 19 , they will be tested and treated at designated health facilities at their own costs.
COVID TESTING BEFORE DEPARTURE FROM TANZANIA
Requirements for travelers departing Tanzania will be in line with requirements issued by the travelers respective airline or destination country .
COVID – 19 PCR testing is currently available at : test cost $ 100 and the result will be back in 48 hours . The facilities in the Serengeti and Karatu have a small additional fee and will email the results . Test fee is payable in cash.

Please note that the current government advice is for travelers to undergo Covid- 19 testing a minimum of 3 days prior to departure ( depending on the specific airline and destination country requirements) to ensure adequate time is allowed for test results to be received .
Safety procedures have been put in place to increase social distance and sterilization of surfaces and food. The government have established medical facilities and ambulance networks specifically for tourists. We ask you to either have medical insurance or to sign a waiver accepting financial responsibility in case of emergency .

Rick trackers & safaris along with the government of Tanzania has implemented measures to give you the best chance for a safe and health holiday in Tanzania . Naturally , Corona virus is the hot topic and biggest concern . Rick trackers & safaris has one staff member whose duty is to ensure that safety and health regulations are adhered to and that you are comfortable with the safety and health at all times . You will have access to communicating with our health and safety representative at any time during your safari .
COVID-19 PRECOUTIONS BEFORE / AFTER SAFARI OR TREK
AIRPORT/HOTELS once you are being picked up by a Rick trackers & safaris tour leader/guide , he/she will meet you just past the control area of the airport wearing a mask holding a signboard with your name on it. Then you will be taken to our complete sanitized vehicle and after your hands are sanitized , you will be given a face mask to wear during transport . A distance of one meter will be kept in between during all transport .
Rick trackers & safaris will only use hotels , restaurant and accommodations where we are confident that they adhere to health guidelines established by Tanzanian government for preventing Corona virus . But we do not have direct authority over these. If the health and safety are making you feel in doubt , please let us know immediately .
If you think that you maybe having Corona virus during your stay in Tanzania , let us know immediately .The Tanzanian government has put in place emergency transport and medical facilities reserved specifically for tourists .
We will request that you have medical insurance with evacuation in place or that you sign a waiver showing your willingness to accept financially responsibility in case of medical emergency .
COVID PRECAUTION ON THE MOUNTAIN
The advantage of being outdoors and the large advantage that Corona virus does not last long in high UV radiation ( high altitude – high UV radiation ) .During hiking , face masks will not be required since they can limit oxygen intake. But at the camp , any interaction that you have with our staff will be with them wearing proper protection . Hand washing facilities will always be available . Rick trackers & safaris trek always include private toilet and will be disinfected after each use . During meals , social distancing will be practiced . All gear and food items will be sanitized before the trek .
Note that since some camps can be crowded during busy months , the government will be regulating and if necessary restricting number of groups on certain routes .
We highly insist that each client to have own tent .
COVID PRECAUTION ON SAFARI
You can expect that our safari vehicle to be sanitized , with a hand sanitization always available . There will be a distance of one meter between all passengers in our safari vehicle . Face masks are requested to be worn when the situation allows their use . For lodges and tented camps , they comply with government regulations regarding sanitization and social distancing .
For camping safaris , your tour leader / guide will make sure that your tent and dining do not put you at health risk . Sharing toilets and shower facilities will be under control of campsite personnel who are trained to ensure proper sanitization.
